About the Job:

An opportunity has arisen for a Sommelier to join our team in Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab. The main duties and responsibilities of this role are:

• Train colleagues on wine knowledge.
• Control and monitor wine orders, stock and par level.
• Pick up wines from stores after proper checking of the order and quantity.
• Maintain wine chillier at correct temperature and maintain temperature records.
• Ensure all tables are attended during the service; refilling and fresh orders are taken throughout.
• Build rapport with Junior Sommeliers and the team to enhance teamwork and smooth operation.
• Report feedback and suggestions to the Beverage Manager and Outlet Managers and send updates of the availabilities and non-availabilities.
• Ensure proper labelling is done for all opened bottles, transfer or report as spoilage according to set standards.
• Support the service team with their beverage service if needed.
• Support with additional tasks as assigned by the Beverage Manager.

About You:

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following experience and qualifications:

• Prior experience in a similar role in a luxury hotel or a standalone restaurant, demonstrating a strong understanding of luxury hospitality standards, preferably within a pre-opening setting.
• Proficiency in English is required, ideally complemented by proficiency with a second language (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian, Mandarin, German or Greek).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Extensive wine and beverage knowledge and the strategic ability to sell by using upselling techniques.
• WSET level 3 or equivalent.
