Surgical Clinic Nurse Coordinator Jobs in Dubai, UAE
Job Description
Coordinates admission and discharge planning services for patients at the American Hospital Dubai working with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Discusses the surgical admission process and procedure details with patients scheduled for procedures and assessed in the anaesthesia clinic.
- Ensures patient’s file requirements are met for admission including the surgical and anesthesia consent, when applicable.
- Provides the patients and relatives a tour of the admitting unit.
- Collaborates with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Conducts comprehensive client assessments to collect functional, environmental, psycho-social, financial, employment, housing, educational, and health information as appropriate to assist in an optimal discharge plan.
- Conducts daily unit rounds for proactive planning of care of the patients in need.
- Demonstrates attention to discharge planning, discharge planning is addressed on admission, ongoing and as care plans are modified. Discharge and transfer procedures are completed in a timely and complete manner.
- Maintains effective communication with physicians, nursing staff, patients, families and others related to admission and discharge planning; coordinates with different departments to provide services needed.
- Participates in patient-related meetings (family conferences, multidisciplinary, high-value care rounding, etc.) regarding patient care planning and implementation.
- Promotes professional and clinical personal growth.
- Participates in hospital-wide and nursing committees as requested.
- Demonstrates cooperation, coordination and respect among individuals/departments to provide excellent customer service (internal and external).
- Performs additional duties as requested.
- Demonstrates awareness and knowledge of Infection control, Pain Management and Wound Care practices and standards. Reports and documents as directed in the relevant policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (minimum of three (3) years full-time course duration) or
- Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) and Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia
- For UAE nationals graduates of UAE or non-UAE universities are exempted from the experience and clinical training requirements for the applied title. (UAE nationals must submit a copy of their birth certificate and the mother’s family book)
- Non-UAE national graduates from UAE universities are required to successfully complete six (6) months of clinical training post-graduation in an APS health facility (except for Registered and assistant Nurse titles)
- Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (where applicable)
- Must hold a minimum of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Postgraduate degree in Nurse Management/Advanced Clinical Specialty preferred
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent post-graduate experience in the related speciality.
- Knowledge of and ability to render care and services based on age, appropriateness and developmental needs of patients.
- Skills in assessment of patient and family’s physical and psychological needs.
- Skills in coordination and planning of care and prioritising care based on individual needs.
