Job Description
To provide specialized services to patients for the diagnosis and management of diseases of the Kidney.
Responsibilities
- To perform the professional duties of a Specialist Nephrologists in accordance with the delineation of privileges as approved by the Credentials Committee.
- Provides after working hours on-call emergency coverage for nephrology emergencies and hemodialysis unit.
- Provides supervision and education to the dialysis Staffs : Nurses and Technicians
- Participates and contributes to the educational activities in the service.
- Participates and contributes to all the quality assurance activities of the service (e.g. monthly mortality and morbidity conference, peer review, audit and chart review).
- Supports Continuous Quality Improvement. Develops and promotes appropriate standards of care.
- Exercises effective interpersonal skills in dealings with department staff, with associates and with Management.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding patient information and regarding administrative matters of a confidential nature.
- Demonstrates the ability to listen to others in promoting effective communication.
- Develops thorough understanding of policies and procedures of the hospital and demonstrates respect for them.
- Performs other duties as assigned by Head of the Department.
- To follow appropriate international guidelines, DHA regulations & Joint Commission International norms while treating or managing patients as well as while discharging their professional duties.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an approved medical school plus one year of internship and three years of residency; certification by the American Board of Neurology or Member of the Royal College of Neurology (or its equivalent).
- At least five (5) years of practice as a nephrologist with two (2) or more years as a licensed specialist.
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
- Must be highly skilled in the particular field of practice, with mature clinical judgment and ability to provide professional leadership. He / she must have a thorough knowledge of Medical Department policies and procedures with particular reference to the obligation to maintain the confidentiality of his work; personality which inspires confidence and trust in his patients; and adhere to Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Organization.
- Current licensure in country of origin and with DHA license to practice as a Specialist in the field of Nephrology in Dubai, UAE.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
