Individual Inclusion Assistant 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide consistent support to the assigned student throughout the school day.
• Promote student access to learning and inclusion in class activities.
• Ensure student safety during transitions, lessons, and unstructured times.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and self-management skills.
• Assist with learning tasks under the direction of teaching staff.
• Implement agreed strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Follow medical, personal care, and health protocols as required.
• Supervise the student during breaks, lunch, and school trips.
• Liaise regularly with teachers, support staff, and the Inclusion team.
• Maintain a professional and positive presence in all school settings.
• Contribute to a supportive and calm learning environment.
• Uphold safeguarding, behaviour, and health and safety policies.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

• Establish daily routines and provide consistent structure and guidance.
• Support the use of visual aids, schedules, or communication tools.
• Prompt or assist with task initiation and completion.
• Monitor and respond to signs of emotional or sensory distress.
• Support the implementation of IEP and DLP goals through daily interactions and learning activities.
• Record observations or incidents for review, reporting, and progress tracking.
• Prepare, modify, or organise materials as directed.
• Provide verbal reassurance, encouragement, and praise.
• Assist with toileting, feeding, or mobility if required.
• Reinforce classroom routines and behavioural expectations.
• Supervise during individual movement breaks or sensory activities.
• Communicate relevant updates to parents/carers as directed by the class teacher or Inclusion team.
• Participate in meetings, reviews, and relevant training.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and training to build knowledge and skills relevant to the student’s needs (e.g. behaviour support, communication strategies, medical protocols).
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.

Minimum Qualification

•    To have a minimum secondary school certificate.

Minimum Experience

•    At least two-year experience supporting student with additional learning needs
